Between 1996 and 2000, Hotwire Plus 8s were fitted with the "Spider" Alarm spider, (so nicknamed as it was a small black box with black wires coming from it). This box was responsible for the immobilisation of certain electrical items and, unfortunately, is often the cause of ignition misfires etc due to failure.

It can be bypassed.

I have placed below a diagram of the 10 pin plug connector plug which needs to be unplugged from the black box and the following connections are to be made to bypass this.
 
 

Pin 2 connects to pin 3 Pin 6 connects to pin 10 Pin 8 connects to pin 4
